ABOUT

Cathode Ray Tubes is a conservatory, an art gallery, a museum, and a studio—dedicated to preserving CRT technology through games, and other visual media originally designed for this iconic display format. We believe that so-called scanlines used by CRTs to create or paint an image on the screen hold the same significance to visual art as brushstrokes do to a painting—both are essential elements that contribute to the texture, detail and overall artistic expression of the work.

We also firmly believe that CRTs hold the same cultural significance for visual content as vinyl for music—an essential piece of history that deserves preservation. Cathode Ray Tubes is committed to safeguarding every aspect of CRT technology, from the displays to the content crafted specifically for them, ensuring these artistic experiences are not lost to time. Anyone who has attempted to capture a CRT screen with a camera knows that doing so without introducing unwanted noise, such as moiré patterns and other visual disturbances, is an art in itself—an art that we at Cathode Ray Tubes have mastered, as evident in the quality of our captures.

If you would like any visual material captured on a CRT, please don’t hesitate to contact us at info@cathoderaytubes.com
